BASIC HIGH ANGLE RESCUE

This training course is designed to provide the candidates with the in-depth knowledge, skills and understanding for undertaking high angle rescue operations.
Who is this course for?
Emergency Services personnel and those who are required to undertake high angle rescue duties.
Prerequisites
Physically and medically fit
Minimum 18 years of age
Course Content
● Understanding the hazards and risks associated with work at height
● Risk assessment for rescue operations
● Selecting and applying appropriate safety measure
● Pre-use checks, care and maintenance of equipment
● Comparing options for rescue
● Command, control and communications for high angle rescue
● Basic rope access (ascent, descent, change-over, passing knots)
● Aid Climb (using fixed achors & moveable anchors)
● Rigging (Basic, Y-Hang, Bunny Ears)
● Rope / edge protection
● Knowledge on suspension trauma
● Snatch rescue
● Pick-off rescue (rescue a casualty from an ascender)
● Rescue a casualty from hanging on a structure
● Pulley systems
● Casualty lowering
● Casualty hauling
● Rescue using diagonal tensioned lines
● Hauling using stretcher (Note: This course does NOT include log roll & casualty packaging)
● Rescue team workAssessment
Candidates shall do a written test and a practical assessment at the end of the course.
Certification
A certificate of course completion will be issued to successful candidates.
It is recommended that refresher or further training is carried out within 2 years.

ADVANCED HIGH ANGLE RESCUE
This training course is designed to provide the candidates with the in-depth knowledge, skills and understanding for undertaking high angle rescue operations.

Holds a BHAR certificate
Course Content
● Revision on all BHAR techniques
● Further rope access (rope to rope transfer, passing deviations, passing re-belays)
● (Rescue) Passing Re-belay with a Casualty
● (Rescue Passing Deviation with a Casualty
● (Rescue) Rope to Rope Transfer with a Casualty
● (Rescue) Snatch a Casualty from Aid Climb / or Lower Off
● Hang Hauling (with a Separate Rope)
● Cross Hauling
● Advanced Rigging
● (Rescue) Passing Large Re-belay with Casualty
● (Rescue) Passing Knots with Casualty (Knots on 2 Ropes at Same Level)
● Rescue a Casualty from the Middle of Rope to Rope Transfer
● Rescue a Casualty from the Middle of a Large Re-belay
● Rescue a Casulaty from the Bottom of a Large Re-belay (Loop Rescue)
● (Rescue) Aid Climb with Casualty
● Rescue a Casualty Hanging on a Very Short Link
● Breaking into Tight Ropes
● Team RescueAssessment
Candidates shall do a written test and a practical assessment at the end of the course.

HIGH ANGLE RESCUE INSTRUCTOR
This training course is designed to provide the necessary skills, knowledge and experience for those who plan to pursuit a career in high angle rescue training, and/or to work as an instructor in DAS High Angle Rescue training courses.
Who is this course for?
Emergency Services personnel and those who are required to deliver high angle rescue training.
Prerequisites
Physically and medically fit
Minimum 18 years of age
Holds a AHAR certificate
Pre-Course Sessions
Candidates are required to attend pre-course practice sessions in order to aquire sufficient on-rope experience and to enhance and consolidate their skills.
All sessions are organized by DAS at either DAS Depot or external venues.
All sessions are supervised by DAS training staff members.
During each session, candidates are required to undertake various on-rope tasks assigned by DAS training staff members.
For 8 Hours Full Day Sessions - 5 hours will be logged
For 4 Hours Half Day Sessions - 2.5 hours will be logged
On-rope experience required to attend the HIGH ANGLE RESCUE INSTRUCTOR course: minimum 400 logged hours

● Risk assessment for high angle rescue training course
● Course preparation for high angle rescue training
● M.O.I.
● Specific techniques for deliver high angle rescue training
● Spotting minor and major discrepancies
● Dealing with emergenciesAssessment
Candidates shall do a written test and a practical assessment at the end of the course.
Certification
