• STEEL TOWER CLIMBING 1

    TOWER-1

    This training course is designed to provide the candidates with the basic knowledge and skills on steel tower climbing, using fall arrest lanyards and work positioning methods.  We will provide you with the safe, practical and efficient methods for working on steel tower structures.

    Who is this course for?

    Personnel who are required to work on steel towers.  These may include maintenance technicians, engineers and supervisors in industries related to energy, network cable car systems, staging, infrastructures or cargo terminals, etc.

    Prerequisites

    Physically and medically fit

    Minimum 18 years of age

    Course Content

    • Understanding hazards and risks associated with tower works
    • Knowledge on different types of safety measures:
      • work restraint
      • fall arrest
      • work positioning
    • Selection of Personal Fall Protection Equipment
    • Pre use checks / equipment inspection
    • Correct fitting of Personal Fall Protection Equipment
    • Protection for climbing fixed vertical ladders
      • using energy absorbing lanyards
      • using pre-installed fall arrest guard rail
    • Protection for working on tower decks / platforms
      • using work restraint equipment (with adjustable length)
      • using fall arrest equipment
    • Moving along horizontal steelworks (aid climb using moveable anchors)
    • Knowledge on suspension trauma

    Assessment

    Candidates shall do a short written test and a practical assessment at the end of the course.

    Certification

    A certificate of course completion will be issued to successful candidates.

    It is recommended that refresher or further training is carried out within 2 years.

  • STEEL TOWER CLIMBING 2

    This training course is designed to provide the candidates with the further knowledge and skills on steel tower climbing, using vertical work positioning methods.  We will provide you with the safe, practical and efficient methods for working on steel tower structures.

    Who is this course for?

    Personnel who are required to work on steel towers.  These may include maintenance technicians, engineers and supervisors in industries related to energy, network cable car systems, staging, infrastructures or cargo terminals, etc.

    Prerequisites

    Holds a STC1 certificate

    Physically and medically fit

    Minimum 18 years of age

    Course Content

    • Revision on STC1 topics
    • Further equipment inspection
    • Basic rigging on steel towers
    • Rope management
    • Rope / edge protection
    • Moving along vertical steelworks (using descending method)
    • Moving along diagonal steelworks (using descending method and work positioning lanyards)

    Assessment

    Candidates shall do a short written test and a practical assessment at the end of the course.

    Certification

    A certificate of course completion will be issued to successful candidates.

    It is recommended that refresher or further training is carried out within 2 years.

  • STEEL TOWER RESCUE

    This training course is designed to provide the candidates with the basic knowledge and skills to handle steel tower emergencies, to safely retrieve a workmate who is injured or having difficulties getting back to the ground.  We will provide you with the safe, practical and efficient methods for helping your workmate out of trouble.

    Emergency / rescue plan should be a part of the work method.  Personnel who works at height should be able to carry to such a plan when in the case of emergency.  Assistance or rescue should be carried out as soon as possible as a person waiting for rescue when hanged mid-air may suffer suspension trauma and may die in a very short period of time (before the arrival of Fire Services).

    • Understanding the potential emergency scenarios and causes
    • Emergency plans
    • Revision on STC1 & STC2 topics
    • Knowledge on suspension trauma treatment
    • Pick-off technique
    • Rescue a casualty who is hanged on ropes / lanyards
    • Rescue a casualty who lies on tower decks / platforms
    • Casualty care

    Assessment

    Candidates shall do a short written test and a practical assessment at the end of the course.

    Certification

    A certificate of course completion will be issued to successful candidates.

    It is recommended that refresher or further training is carried out within 2 years.
