WORK AT HEIGHT SAFETY

This training course is designed to provide the candidates with the basic knowledge and skills on work at height safety, using full body harnesses, various types of fall protection equipment and methods.  We will provide you with the understanding of the correct uses and limitations of the equipment and protection methods for safe working at height.

Who is this course for?

Personnel who are required to work at height.  These may include maintenance technicians, engineers and supervisors in any industry where risks of falls from height are present.

Prerequisites

Physically and medically fit

Minimum 18 years of age

Course Content

  • Understanding hazards and risks
  • Knowledge on different types of safety measures:
    • work restraint
    • fall arrest
  • Selection of Personal Fall Protection Equipment
  • Pre use checks
  • Correct fitting of Personal Fall Protection Equipment
  • Protection for climbing fixed vertical ladders
    • using energy absorbing lanyards
    • using pre-installed fall arrest guard rail
    • setting up temporary vertical lifelines for ladders
  • Protection for working close to edges
    • setting up horizontal lifelines
    • using work restraint equipment (with adjustable length)
    • using retractable fall arrest blocks
  • Knowledge on the consequences of fall & suspension trauma

Assessment

Candidates shall do a short written test and a practical assessment at the end of the course.

Certification

A certificate of course completion will be issued to successful candidates.

It is recommended that refresher or further training is carried out within 2 years.
